Top 9 IT Trade AssociationsThe Association of Service and Computer Dealers International (ASCDI) is a global trade organization that represents the needs of the Information Technology industry. It is a not-for-profit organization whose members form the company.

One of the roles of the trade association is to promote the IT industry and place it in a good light by ensuring that all of its members adhere to the association’s ethical standards.

ASCDI has a rigorous process of review: they publish lists of members who have not signed up to the code. The Association of Service and Computer Dealers International also publishes a list of members who have violated the code.

In addition, ASCDI participates in political and legislative arenas across the world to promote its members. It makes certain that all prospective legislation that may affect the industry is reviewed and that, when necessary, action, input, or lobbying takes place.

Some of the membership benefits include:

  • The ability to attend annual meetings in locations such as Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago, Boston, London (UK), Hamburg (Germany), and Singapore. The destinations change annually.

  • The chance to participate in industry focus groups.

  • The chance to participate in forums.

  • Access to a network allowing members to trade equipment.

ASCDI encourages members to actively participate in the exchange of ideas in order to better the industry. The organization as a whole advocates, encourages, and helps its members and potential members to start and/or continue their professional education.

Any business that provides technology solutions to other businesses be they small, medium, or large, can apply to join the ASCDI. However, in order to apply, you need to be sponsored by someone who is already a member. Once you have this recommendation, you can make your application, which then needs to be ratified by the entire membership.

Membership fees are approximately $900 per year; members agree to be bound by the ASCDI code of ethics.
