Linux Certification Resources: How Linux Foundation Teaches on YouTube
Linux has a
giant developer fan-base as an OS that has some major commercial success as well. So it’s only natural that a vibrant ecosystem would blossom around Linux certification resources.
According to The Linux Foundation, a nonprofit Linux sponsor, powerhouses like Google, Amazon, IBM, and the New York Stock Exchange use Linux and its popularity is red-hot. No pun intended.
All of that success and commercial interest translates to some major potential business for VARs and MSPs.
If you are considering investing in Linux certification, The Linux Foundation can be a great resource, and not just through its website. The foundation has over 200 videos on YouTube. They range from tutorials to historical to just-for-fun and can be a great way to learn more about Linux.
About the Foundation
According to the Linux Foundation’s website, the organization works with Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, to promote Linux through satellite sites like linux.com and events like LinuxCon.
The Linux Foundation’s resources are invaluable for those trying to get into the Linux game and complete their Linux certification, while at the same time supporting Linux improvement by assisting developers.
Tutorial Videos
The Linux Foundation has tons of helpful training videos on everything from SPDX and Open-Source Compliance introductions to detailed processes for the more experienced. The videos feature screenshots, illustrations, and step-by-step instructions. They are also easily digestible.
For example, the Introduction to SPDX video effectively explains what SPDX is with some helpful diagrams, showing how the flow of software often results in redundant work. After 1:44, the video requests that the user redirect to the Linux Foundation’s website.
Experiences
Still within the same YouTube channel, there are dozens of Linux certification-related video interviews with Linux professionals documenting their success with Linux and advice on how to get in on the accomplishments.
They talk about what they work in and how they got there, networking within the Linux community, and even sensitive topics like gender preference in the tech industry.
Useless But Fun
Aside from professional tutorials and interviews, The Linux Foundation’s YouTube channel has some random but cute short clips and commercials about Linux, mostly about the concept and about the platform’s purported superiority. You will find them if you poke around on the channel.
