Cloud Connect Gives Delegates New Products, Demos, and Insights

Cloud Connect makes Cloud Connect Gives Delegates New Products Demos and Insightsno secret of its aim to promote cloud computing among IT service providers.

The 2012 Santa Clara event, running from February 13th to February 16th, presented delegates with cloud products, demos, and valuable insights.

Speakers

Cloud Connect had more than 180 talks. Among those that impressed delegates the most were:

  • Enterprise-Class Cloud. Dan Retzer of XSP talked about how an enterprise-class cloud SLA completely changed the way his company does business.

  • Applications at Scale. Dave Roberts of ServiceMesh Inc., and Eric D. Boyd of Centare gave a joint presentation on Applications at Scale. This session was a definite favorite on the final day of the conference.

Innovation

Cloud computing is relatively new on the IT scene. Innovation was therefore a major theme at Cloud Connect

This theme ran through the conference's session tracks. One aim of the sessions was to teach IT service providers how to use innovation to optimize cloud cost, capacity, and performance. Other sessions faced up to the risks and drawbacks of cloud computing.

Specific Discussions

Track sessions included specific discussions on:

  • The economics of the cloud

  • Building trust and compliance in the cloud

  • Cloud risk factors and assumptions

  • Disaster recovery centers

  • Cloud event processing

  • Performance measurement

  • Evaluating enterprise clouds

These are just a small sample of the topics covered. They generated a lot of comments.

The Next Big Things

Cloud Connect was a chance for IT service providers to discover the next big things in cloud computing

As one delegate said, Cloud Connect is "the densest gathering of people who are building and planning tomorrow's on-demand infrastructure."

By the way, anyone who missed the Santa Clara conference can book a trip to the Windy City for Cloud Connect Chicago, September 10th to 13th.
