Cisco Partner Summit Prepares Delegates for Future Opportunities
The Cisco Partner Summit, running from April 16th to April 19th, had its sights set clearly on the future. Technology providers who are Cisco partners experienced four days of networking and leadership development. They also learned about Cisco’s latest channel strategy initiatives.
Partner Plus Program
At the Cisco Partner Summit, Cisco announced it wants to take advantage of a business opportunity worth more than $60 billion.
Under the Partner Plus Program, Cisco’s channel partners gain a range of benefits. The aim of these is to help partners grow their businesses in the SMB market.
Rollout of the program has begun in the United States and Canada. Global rollout starts in August 2012.
Data Center Growth
In one of the key talks at the Cisco Partner Summit, Edison Peres, the SVP of Worldwide Channels, confirmed that data centers are the # 1 growth area for channel partners.
To help VARs meet the demands of their customers in this area, Cisco has introduced Master Cloud Builder Partner specialization. Under this program, the solutions include FlexPod, Vblock, and Cisco’s VXI architecture.
The EASE Program
A further initiative Edison Peres launched at the Cisco Partner Summit was the Enabling Architecture Sales Excellence (EASE) program.
Once again, the purpose of this program is to boost partner growth. Cisco is working with technical education centers to train partners’ sales forces around the world. Each partner can use the program to have ten sales people trained per country.
A Lot to Think About
Clearly, channel partners came away from this year’s Cisco Partner Summit with a lot to think about. Cisco certainly presented an upbeat mood and seems determined to help partners become more profitable.
