Varnex University Gathers Steam on Training for VAR Salespeople
IT resellers who want to boost their professional sales knowledge may find a solution in the forthcoming Varnex University, presented by distributor SYNNEX. The aim is to help VAR members to get the training they need, but may have had difficulty completing on their own.
Course Plans Sketched Out
At the Varnex Spring Conference this year in New Orleans (April 15th-18th), the distributor presented plans for two main tracks:

A “new hires” course, focusing on technology sales basics and best practices

An “advanced” course for experienced VAR salespeople
Full details of the Varnex University program will be announced in the future, but SYNNEX senior marketing VP Bob Stegner hinted at the spring conference that each course will last two days or more, with content from the distributor, vendor partners, and industry gurus.
The university program could reproduce the context of two decades ago, when margins for IT resellers were much bigger and the frequency of such training programs was much greater.
Visions of Overall Better Businesses for VARs
Course modules may also build on the scheduled introduction this year of the distributor’s “One IT” solution, designed to help resellers do business over a common infrastructure.
Varnex Council president Mike Brogan also cited business development, margin optimization, and even HR as further possibilities to help resellers run their businesses better. In particular, marketing is a strong candidate for inclusion, given the interest this topic is currently generating among resellers.
