In the course of a month, I typically see hundreds of different IT services company websites. The sites pretty much run the gamut—all different shapes, sizes, levels of marketing sophistication, and degrees of uniqueness.
Stand Out from the Competition
But every once in a while, I come across an IT services company that’s doing something different with their website to make it stand out from the competition. A few weeks ago, I stumbled across the home page of OneNeck IT Services Corporation, a TDS company.
Unlike other occasions where I’ve been wowed by the homepage advertising copy, or a unique offer and call-to-action (CTA) combination, or a great job of segmenting visitor traffic, the OneNeck website had something small, but quite significant, in the bottom right hand corner of its homepage:
Unique Advertising Copy Approach Worth Testing
"If you are a type 'A' personality and don't want our marketing hype, click here!"
The right pointing around leads to a pretty standard, garden-variety About OneNeck section of its website.
But it’s bold, brazen approach to saying what a big portion of its visitors may actually be thinking is what wins big points here.
Set It Free from the Basement of the Home Page...Does It Have Legs?
From a pure marketing and analytics perspective, I would be curious to hear if OneNeck has tested that messaging and CTA on other parts of its IT services company website, especially on the homepage above the fold. It’s possible, though unlikely, that the company is unaware of the power of this messaging.
That same messaging may also be an effective advertising copy concept to test on landing pages and in PPC advertising campaigns, online banner advertising campaigns, print advertising campaigns, and direct mail campaigns.
But either way, when I see something unique that others who own and manage a similar VAR or MSP company might want to emulate, I like to shine a spotlight on the best practice. And give credit where credit’s due.
